“The Sims 3” is here.

A year and a half ago, I blogged about how Electronic Arts was about to release the third version of the “The Sims” video game for Windows and Mac computers.

Now, Electronic Arts has released the console versions of “The Sims.”  With versions on Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, DS, iPhone/iPod touch, Windows, Mac, etc., millions of people can truly have pretend lives no matter where you go.  Every waking moment can be spent controlling virtual people in virtual lives to include going to/from work, using the bathroom, cooking, playing, dating, reading, entertaining, vacationing, and more.

Are our real lives so boring that we are entertained by virtual lives?  Nothing that happens in the virtual world affects the real world.  Once you exit the game, you’re back in the real world where actions really do matter.  Clearly we must be bored, because EA must be making millions of dollars on the game.

On the other hand, I must admit that it is a good game.  I own the PS3, iPod touch, and Windows versions.  So for all those Sims players out there, have fun.  😉
